We started The Duplettes in 2011 and the story of how we got to where we are today is pretty interesting. So here it is…
We met working at a music studio in Yorkshire. My dad had taught Anna during her degree course so he’d warned me about what a talent she was. When I was doing my own degree she came in and sang on my project.
She smashed it on the first take but I got her to do 3 or 4 more and lots of harmonies because I just wanted her to keep singing.
Anna moved to Europe to live with a travelling circus (honestly) and I opened my own studio. We talked a lot while she was away and she was frustrated with not singing live as much as she wanted too.
Enquire NowWhen Anna came back to the UK, I suggested that we start the duo. Our first shows were at wine bars where someone filmed us playing “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”. That video has about 90,000 views on Youtube at the moment.
I eventually got the opportunity to move to London so we decided to get some shows in there. The first gig we got was actually at Wembley Stadium for one of the England football matches.
The call for Wembley came the night before the show because someone had pulled out of the gig. I hadn’t moved to London yet so I set off driving down the M1 from Yorkshire at 5:30am and picked Anna up along the way.
The show at 11am after meeting World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst in the lift on the way in. We’ve played at Wembley around 30 times for a range of occasions including the FA Cup Final, England Rugby matches and the NFL.
More info on Corporate EventsWe’ve since played shows at The O2 Arena, Ascot Racecourse, Silverstone and some of the biggest hotels, museums and galleries in central London.
When we started the acoustic duo we aimed to provide the audience with an opportunity to experience their favourite songs as they’d never heard them before. To create a truly memorable moment that will stay with people for a long time.
